“Be My Body” uses knit to explore the idea that dress is an immersive experience for the observer rather than the wearer of a garment. By objectifying the wearer through the scientific processes of Kawaii Engineering (Michiko Ohkura, published in 2019), the wearer’s decisions are merely a form of dress-up. Okhura notes a paradigm shift where “kawaii (objects which denote cuteness, lovability and innocence) is more important than function”.

I have created one look using knit techniques (machine bed knitting, crochet and knit jersey manipul zation) and complementing campaign and styling images.
